Chinese Communist Party CCP

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the ruling political party of the People's Republic of China. It was founded in 1921, and has been in power since 1949, when it won a civil war and established the People's Republic of China under the leadership of Mao Zedong.

The CCP is a Marxist-Leninist party that advocates for socialism with Chinese characteristics, which incorporates elements of market economics and authoritarian political control. The party is structured hierarchically, with a General Secretary at the top, followed by a Politburo and a Central Committee. The Central Committee elects the Politburo, which in turn elects the Standing Committee of the Politburo, the highest decision-making body of the CCP.

The CCP exercises tight control over all aspects of Chinese society, including the media, education, and religious institutions. The party also controls the military, police, and security apparatus, and uses them to suppress dissent and maintain political control. The CCP has been criticized for its human rights record, including its treatment of ethnic and religious minorities, political dissidents, and civil society activists.

Under the leadership of current General Secretary Xi Jinping, the CCP has pursued a more assertive foreign policy, seeking to expand Chinese influence and challenge the global order dominated by Western countries. The party has also pursued ambitious domestic policies, including the Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to expand infrastructure and trade networks across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
